Vaush is DANGEROUSLY wrong about motorcycles
Переглядів 43 тис.Місяць тому
@Vaush went off on a 40 minute rant about motorcycles, so I'm gonna use him as a proxy for the 'Normie' American perspective on motorcycles as a jumping off point, then explain where this perspective comes from, the many ways it's making our country worse, and why motorcycles are an important workaround to that problem that should be celebrated. ►Check out my custom sticker shop!! www.sticker.r...

    10:46 Unfortunately, it still happens. My own EX would even talk about other trans people (Im a Trans Male) openly to me expressing his deep transphobic views. Ive had my own coworkers, associates, teammates and their parents talk down upon other trans people to my face (while they dont know im trans myself) or directly threaten me (after finding out) while im looking at them like "wtf???" EDIT: OMG I didnt know you were the cop moto guy! Glad I found your videos, youre a wonderful human, keep rocking on!

    In the past i wasnt a quote on quote transphobe but i did not understand transgender people at all. That is until a read a book called "felix ever after" which was about a transgender man and his relationship with his friends and bullying (transphobia). I swear that single book (which i was actually forced to read for a school project) was actually amazing and really showed me the experience of a trans person written by a trans author. I suggest people should really read queer books- fictional or not. It really opened my eyes and now i 100% support any queer identity and i empathize with them as a woman with how society can be so hateful for no reason.

    Thank you AJ for promoting the community as you do. No bullshit, no sugar coating; but just by being a decent person. I, myself am a really feminine gay man who always had trouble getting along with straight men. However, within the past couple years I have become really close with one who he admits to never having/wanting a LGTBQ friend before. I had noticed in class that he would actively avoid me, but it wasn't until we actually had a heart-to-heart at a party that we opened up to each other. Now we talk nearly every day and sure there are times where I have to guide him in proper language etc since he's still super straight (his gf helps too lol) but I am so happy to have him in my life. ❤

    To be honest, its less decision, more culture. In the UK, helmets are mandatory and gear is very much encouraged. The DVLA will not let you sit a test without adequate gear/skin coverage. Im confident i can avoid 90% of accidents involving cars. I cant be confident that a deer wont run out in front of me, or that my tyre wont suddenly blowout, or that my engine wont suddenly explode. So im ATGATT, id much rather fall off covered so i can ride again tmrw, than have to go through months of recovery or death in an accident and never ride again.

    Reading all these comments is so validating. I used to be very religious and hateful in my childhood and preteen years (nothing wrong with faith as long as it doesn't hurt or endanger others/fuel hateful acts, but it was very dangerous for me in my case). When I left the church I had a bit of a crisis. I started seeing the world through new eyes and allowing myself to look in the mirror and ask why I was feeling this pit in my stomach when I'd see pride/discussions on LGBT+ etc. What I was feeling was that same as when my family would exclude me, when they'd insist I hate someone I don't know, the same feeling of being pushed down, aside, forgotten, laughed at, etc. I was JEALOUS to see people understand who they are and be happy for it. I went from this pre installed hatred to "I'm straight but I'm an ally", to "I think I'm bi" to "Bi is too restrictive" to "I'm pan" to "I'm cis but pan" to "I'm nb and pan", which is where I am now. I have more friends now than I ever had before. That pit in my stomach is gone. Family makes fun of me for going "woke" and making friends (they insisted I go to college, I graduate by myself, and then they insist I was indoctrinated there. YOU TOLD ME TO GO!) but every day, it's easier to laugh at them. Imagine using your faith to stomp others down, to use as a basis for removing/preventing someone from enjoying basic human rights, to defend your abuse with. That's sad. I'm so thankful I left when I left. It wasn't easy and even 15 years later I miss the *community and sense of belonging* in the church but I do not miss being bullied. I don't miss being treated like an object. I don't miss the physical and verbal assault. I don't miss that feeling in my gut. I smile now because want to, not because I fear the repercussions of smiling when I have been threatened to do so.

    • @SquidTips
      @SquidTips 6 годин тому

      Sometimes family comes around later too. People get caught up in things, don’t realize it until they’re way too deep, struggle to pull themselves out and then something happens with their communities and suddenly they’re more open to things they’ve never supported before.

    So, the main problem I and most other people have with motorcycles is that they’re really, REALLY loud and annoying. Even with super large and wide roads with lots of cars, you can DEFINITELY, CLEARLY hear the super loud noise of the motorcycle engine (I live in Europe, and we don’t have as much gigantic roads, and if I’m just chilling at a coffee shop or walking, especially if I’m talking to someone, a super loud motorcycle just ruins everything). Now, I’m really glad that y’all are supporting us in fighting cars, but motorcycles are usually just as bad

    • @SquidTips
      @SquidTips 6 годин тому

      Motorcycle riders aren’t uniquely prone to installing aftermarket exhaust compared to car enthusiast, so it could just be a perception built from the traffic mix in your area. Where I live in Seattle, when I hear a loud vehicle it’s about 80% cars, but that could be because there are less people choosing motorcycles because of our weather patterns or other factors.

    I've had trans and queer friends for a long time and have been extremely supportive towards them but I've found that I've had internalized transphobia towards myself when I insisted I'm non-binary simply because I was afraid to call myself a trans man. It took a lot of support from my friends and most importantly an extremely supportive, loving man I have fortune to call my better half to kickstart my transition journey and finally accept myself.

    Obviously he was using dramatic hyperbole. And if you pay attention, he was specifically referring to the active choice of removing the muffler - a choice that can do actual hearing damage to you and those around you - an antisocial act without any benefit. He is the opposite of "car brained", actively wanting to turn the majority of city roads into pedestrian zones, replace semi trucks entirely with freight trains, and even entertains restricting the legality of private cars to rural residents who have no other logistical choice.

The motorcycle stuff really isn't for me but the more political stuff absolutely is. I tend to be a public transit/bicycle enjoyer, car hater and motorcycle don't know enough about-er but it's obvious that they're better than cars for single person transport and there really are places that public transit and bikes just don't do it. Not even mentioning the fact that public transit effectively doesnt exist in some us cities and the suburbs. If 15minute cities, bicycle infrastructure and public transit was where it should be maybe motorcycles wouldnt be as good anymore but its not like thats a reality we'll likely see Got the transphobe to trans ally vid recommended to me today and listened to that while at work, then the Noah samsen interview and now this. I'm a gay man and I used to have transwomen friends who I would play videogames with. At first I didnt really care about them revealing me their true selves, in fact I supported them at first, but when we started talking about transphobia and how me only liking cis men made me a transphobic person that's when I started drifting away from them, and more broadly from the transgenders. I have no issues with them, I just dont understand why g*nitalia choice makes me a transphobic person, and I will never understand why they (my friends) started picking on me because of that. From that moment on I began to covet some degree of hatred inside of me, but even then, I still understood in my head that after all, it's not really something that impacts me directly and it doesn't do me any harm. Sorry you were attacked by people with guns, but did they attack you because you were on a motorcycle, which would not be the reason you would be attacked by people in Vaush's utopia, or because you removed your muffler to make your motorcycle louder on purpose, which actually is the thing that Vaush is complaining about? This is like hearing someone say "I think people who listen to loud music in public without headphones should spontaneously combust!" and thinking "Oh my god, this person wants me dead because I listen to music on walks through my headphones!" and internally justifying it by remembering that you were mugged on your walk a few weeks ago.

    • @tunafishuwu

      Also you liked the comments of multiple right wingers down here, who are probably the actual people that were attacking you. You're agreeing with the people attacking you in the streets, to own Vaush, for "encouraging people to attack you" by saying "people should be attacked for making motorcycles louder on purpose".

      You’re so close to understanding the problem, I bet if you watched the full video you’d get all the way there

      You made three points that just don't reflect what Vaush has said in the clip of his in your video. 1. The clip itself does not show a broad attack against motorcyclists like you claimed, but one against people who make their motorcycles louder on purpose, I'm sure Vaush would say the same thing about car drivers who make their cars louder on purpose. 2. You said the people attacking you justified their attacks by saying you engaged in what they call dangerous behavior, which is not the same as Vaush expressing his hatred for loud motorcycles and their drivers. 3. In the comments, you say Vaush is being car-brained by saying loud motorcycles are bad, and that car-brainedness is directly what leads to pedestrian deaths. This one is not just whataboutism, but also just kind of stupid, because Vaush is a loud advocate for walkable cities, which, as directly as possible, reduce the amount of people who die by car. If you have to change what he said this many times, I don't think you are capable of making a full argument.

      This is a clipped up version of a 90 minute video. Instead of getting mad because there are limitations to the short video format, go to the main video and get the nuance that you seem to be asking for. You’re not educating me here, you’re just demonstrating that you do not have a full picture of what he said, or these issues.
